FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tri-Cities, Wash.—The Tri-Cities Open and Safe Coalition has launched “Tri-Cities Open and Safe,” a region-wide initiative to support and recognize local businesses as the Tri-Cities begins to reopen under the Safe Start Washington proclamation. The intent of the initiative is to protect public health and restore our local economy.

Tri-Cities Open and Safe Coalition has compiled and organized resources provided by the Benton-Franklin Health District on a free website (www.tcopenandsafe.com). Business owners will find the information needed to keep their businesses in compliance with reopening regulations and will help them navigate the phased reopening process. Industry-specific guidelines for Phase 1 are currently available as well as Phase 2 for business planning purposes. Information for Phases 3 and 4 to follow in the weeks to come.

In addition, Tri-Cities business owners can take their commitment to public health and safety one step further with the Tri-Cities Open and Safe Business pledge. The pledge indicates the business is dedicated to creating a clean, safe and healthy environment for employees, customers and visitors as the community begins to reopen for business. Participating businesses will be listed on a Geographic Information System (GIS) map on the Tri-Cities Open and Safe website. The pledge is a key component of the Coalition’s consumer confidence campaign, highlighting the region-wide adoption of safe business practices to ensure public health. Participating businesses will also have access to the Tri-Cities Open and Safe branding, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other marketing resources.

Public service announcements, safety videos and a consumer facing video (encouraging adherence to health standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19) are being developed in English and Spanish.

Visit www.tcopenandsafe.com to access reopening resources and/or take the pledge.

The community can support a healthy Tri-Cities and safe reopening efforts by practicing physical distancing and wearing face coverings when in public spaces.
