Utilities

A minimum of two independent sources of power to the Tri-Cities originates with the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).  The Federal Columbia River Power System services the Tri-Cities via Bonneville, and is considered one of the most reliable and stable power systems in the country.

Within 45 miles of the Tri-Cities are three major hydro-electric plants, two thermonuclear generating plants and one coal fired generating plant, all of which are linked to the electrical grid system managed by BPA and distributed to industries through four public utilities.  These various sources of electricity have ensured an abundant supply of power to the region, at some of the lowest electrical cost anywhere in the nation.
